Discount books, 1835-1845.

The discount books are a record of the notes, pertaining to debts, which the State Bank and its Branches accepted at a discount. Included are the name of the person offering the note to the Bank, the guarantor of the note, the name of the Bank official accepting the note, the note number, the date the note was offered for a discount, the original amount of the note, the amount of discount, the amount of the note minus the discount, and any special remarks concerning when the notes are due. The amount of the notes and the discounts accepted at the Branch Bank are usually totaled daily. The Branch Bank at Huntsville also records the credit book page in which the transaction was recorded.
